Meeting your nutrition goals can be a challenge no matter what lifestyle you lead, and if you have chosen to follow a vegan lifestyle, there’s an added level of difficulty when it comes to achieving the recommended daily value of key vitamins and minerals. While the vegan diet itself can promote a healthy lifestyle, certain nutrients aren’t easy to incorporate without supplementation from vegan vitamins

Explore our full lineup of Vitamin D3 products from Vegan Life Nutrition.

What Vitamins Are Best for Vegans?

The best vegan vitamins are the ones made with natural, sustainable, and clean ingredients proven to support things like calcium absorption, immune system health, white blood cell health, bone strength, and energy.

Vitamin D3 made with natural, sustainable, and clean raw ingredients

Vegans rely on Vitamin D3 for things like immune support, healthy calcium absorption, and maintaining bone strength. Plant-based vitamin D3 is preferred for bioavailability over Vitamin D2.

One of the top products in the D3 line is our Synergistically Vegan supplement. We call it our “superhero supplement” because it contains a mix of vitamin D3, vitamin K2, and calcium – all 100% vegan. Vitamin K2 redirects Calcium to the bones for a D3-facilitated absorption process, maximizing the efficiency of the calcium to the bones.

Each of our Vitamin D3 supplements is made with Vitashine™, which is sourced from Lichen.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 can help support energy levels throughout your day, as well as healthy regulation of your nervous system and digestive system.

Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning it can easily dissolve into the bloodstream and benefit your body without losing nutrients to the digestive system.

Shop our raspberry chewable Vitamin B12 vitamins.

Vitamin C

One of the most important things about vitamin C is that it helps the body absorb Iron. This is particularly important for vegans because plant-based foods don’t always have the highest percentage of bioavailability.

Vegan Life Nutrition’s Pure Vitamin C works to:

  • Regenerate antioxidants in the body
  • Support a strong immune system
  • Encourage white blood cell health

Learn more about Pure Vitamin C.

While there are some of the vitamins that we recommend vegans supplement, it’s important to check in with your doctor to ensure you’re maintaining healthy nutrition with your diet and supplementation.

Do Vegans Need a Multivitamin?

When it comes to a vegan lifestyle, it’s best to cover your bases. A good quality multivitamin can help bridge nutritional gaps in your diet without cluttering your cabinet. While Vegan Life Nutrition doesn’t have a designated Vegan Multivitamin, we do have our Prenatal & Postnatal Focus Bundles.vegan vitamins

Here at Vegan Life Nutrition, we eat, sleep and breathe supplements because we understand how critical it is for our bodies to get essential vitamins and minerals every day. One of those very important vitamins is Vitamin C. While it can be found in many foods, we have to be intentional about achieving the minimum Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of 90 mg daily for men and 75 mg for women – which isn’t easy to achieve by diet alone. This is where our 100% vegan Pure Vitamin C supplement comes to the rescue.

vitamin c banner

The Importance of Vitamin C

Why do we need Vitamin C each day? Think of your Vitamin C supplement as your immune system’s support staff. The vitamin is an antioxidant that works to fortify your immune system (which is important considering all the free radicals our systems are exposed to on a daily basis) and helps your body absorb and store iron.

It also is an essential nutrient your body needs in order to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle, and collagen in bones. This is why women who are pregnant and breastfeeding need to be particularly intentional about consuming the appropriate amount of Vitamin C

We don’t naturally produce Vitamin C in our bodies, so incorporating it into our diet and supplement routine is critical. You can find Vitamin C in foods like citrus fruits, berries, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and spinach, but we recommend that you err on the side of caution and take our daily Vitamin C supplement to ensure you intake the RDA.

Supplements Can Help You Reach Your RDA

It’s difficult to rely on your diet alone to accommodate your nutritional needs for many reasons.

Nutrient-Depleted Soil

Studies show that there has been a steady decline in food nutrient content over the last 70 years. This is likely due to industrialized agriculture and the resulting soil degradation. While there are still foods with high Vitamin C content, it’s hard to accurately measure if you’re reaching your RDA just from produce alone.

Life is Busy

We don’t have time to stress about the percentages of certain vitamins and minerals in each meal we eat – especially when we’re on the go, going out to eat, or just living life without a food scale.

Implementing supplements into our daily routine takes seconds, and then we don’t have to worry if we are reaching our nutritional goals for the rest of the day. While it’s always important to maintain a healthy diet that serves our bodies well, adding a supplement is the next step in ensuring your systems have the nutrients they need to thrive.

Vegan Vitamin C Supplement From Vegan Life Nutrition

Pure Vitamin C is one of our most popular products for a very good reason. It provides a super dose of our specially-formulated Vitamin C that works to regenerate antioxidants in the body, promote a strong immune system, and support white blood cell health. Vitamin C Supplement

Each capsule contains 500mgs of Vitamin C which is 550% of the RDA. Our Vitamin C is 100% vegan, non-GMO, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and free of artificial colors.

At Natural Products Expo West 2023, you will find Vegan Life Nutrition’s most innovative products to add to your lineup.

Vegan Life Nutrition at Natural Products Expo West 2023

When you visit Natural Products Expo West 2023, you’ll want to be searching for vegan supplements that not only address your customers’ variety of health needs but also improve your product margins.

When you visit The GHT Companies booth, you will have the opportunity to learn about our products, our people, and partnership opportunities.

Our Products: Vitashine™ – Vegan Vitamin D3

Our vegan Vitamin D3 product line is unmatched, harnessing the cleanest and most highly-vetted ingredients on the market. The success of the products is due to our exclusive proprietary Vitamin D3 blend: Vitashine™

Vitashine™ is a 100% vegan, all-natural source of Vitamin D3 that comes from lichen, whereas most Vitamin D3 products are made from Lanolin (sheep’s wool grease).

We know your customers don’t only want vitamins and supplements that cater to their plant-based needs – they also need to be effective!

Vitamin D3 is more bioavailable than Vitamin D2 due to the fact that we naturally produce a small amount of Vitamin D3 on our own, and our bodies are more likely to accept and absorb a nutrient it’s already used to. That’s why we chose Vitamin D3 to be the star of the show, removing unnecessary ingredients and allowing customers to get the best bang for their buck.

The GHT Companies’ contract manufacturing company, Health Specialties Manufacturing, is the exclusive source for Vitashine™ in North America, and it’s just one of many raw ingredients that came from The GHT Companies’ network of founding scientists from across the globe.

Vitamin D deficiency is common. It comes from a lack of exposure to sunlight and not getting enough of the essential vitamin from diet – either way, being deficient in vitamin D can lead to some serious health concerns.

That’s why we developed products like our Vitamin D3+K2 Spray.

Made with Vitashine™, this power-packed, immune-boosting spray promotes immune health and bone strength, perfect for preparing for cold & flu season or even daily use.

Its lite citrus flavor makes it delicious and easy for the whole family to take. Best of all, due to its liquid form, it’s more bioavailable than capsules and gummies – allowing you to get the most out of the supplement.

While there are many benefits to adopting a vegan lifestyle, it comes with its fair share of challenges. When you eliminate all animal products, you increase your risk of nutrient deficiencies. Plant-based diets lack some of the vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids that are found in meat. For vegans, this means that you must supplement your diet or consume fortified foods routinely to ensure that you are getting all the essential nutrients you require. While we offer vegan supplements for all walks of life at Vegan Life Nutrition, we want to discuss the importance of daily vegan vitamins for women specifically.vegan vitamins for women

Why are Daily Vitamins Essential for Women?

Since a woman’s body changes as she ages, it makes sense that her nutritional needs shift throughout the different stages of her life as well. For example, teenagers going through puberty experience different deficiencies than women who are pregnant or going through menopause.

There are some vitamins and minerals that we believe vegan women in particular should focus on in adulthood. A daily mix of essential supplements is an important pillar of healthy, vegan nutrition alongside a balanced and varied diet.

What Are the Best Vegan Vitamins for Women?

As we mentioned above, different women need different vitamins at varying times in their life, but both us and WebMD agree that these four essential vegan vitamins for women:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is vital to vegans in particular due to its ability to boost iron absorption. Non-heme iron – or iron found in plant foods – has a lower absorption rate than iron found in animal products. Vitamin C can assist in supporting the immune system and cellular repair.

Shop here for Vegan Life Nutrition’s Pure Vitamin C, a capsule tablet that holds 500mgs of Vitamin C per serving. A daily serving can assist in boosting immunity, encouraging improved white blood cell health, and regeneration of antioxidants.

Prenatal and Postnatal Supplements for Vegan Women

For vegan moms and moms-to-be, we believe plant-based prenatal and postnatal vitamins are absolutely essential to incorporate into your daily routine For this reason, we have built the Prenatal Focus Bundle and the Postnatal Focus Bundle with the intent to provide all of the essential nutrients that mom and baby need before, during, and after pregnancy.

These bundles have 20+ vitamins and minerals per serving and include the following benefits for mom and baby.

  • Provide essential vitamins for mother and baby *
  • Maintain healthy digestion *
  • Promote healthy cell division and development *
  • Support the fetal brain, spinal cord, heart, muscle, bone, nerve, and skin development *
  • Support placenta growth *
  • Promote red blood cell development *
  • Replenishes essential nutrients for postpartum mothers and babies during breastfeeding*
  • Promotes healthy development for breastfeeding babies*
  • Supports recovery following childbirth*

You can learn more about these incredible bundles here.

B12

Vitamin B12 is not produced by plants because it’s manufactured by microorganisms. Vegans should either supplement B12 or heavily focus on B12 fortified foods like plant milk and tofu. B12 is necessary for the development of red blood cells and maintaining a healthy nervous system.

We recommend our Vitamin B12 Chewable Tablets to ensure you get a daily dose of 500mcgs. In addition to the benefits noted above, you may see an increase in your energy levels and support for your digestive system.

Vitamin D3

Those with limited sun exposure should pay special attention to Vitamin D3. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to several health issues because your body will source the necessary Vitamin D from your bones and muscles.

Supplementing Vitamin D3 is an easy way to make sure you are getting enough of this essential nutrient instead of relying on diet or sunlight alone (especially during winter months). Vegan Life Nutrition’s Vitamin D3 Supplements are sourced from Lichen and are easily absorbed into the body since plant-based D3 is preferred for bioavailability over other forms of Vitamin D – D2 for example.

Vegan Life Nutrition

No matter what vitamins you take, you need to make sure that they are built with ingredients you can trust. Learn more about Vegan Life Nutrition, our story, and our products on our website.

girl with arm upOne of the foremost reasons why many people choose to be vegan is their love of animals. We believe that animals deserve to live in peace just as humans do. For many of us, this is where our vegan journey begins, and for our friend Michelle, it serves as the sole purpose for her vegan transition.

Michelle started her vegan journey in 2017 and in a similar way as many of our other Vegan Life Nutrition friends; as a vegetarian! It wasn’t until she became more informed about the seriousness of animal cruelty that she decided to switch to a vegan lifestyle. She also found her voice and became a vocal member of the vegan community.

Using her voice to educate

While living a vegetarian lifestyle, she quickly came to the realization that she wasn’t doing enough to inspire change and put a stop to harmful acts against animals. She began watching different documentaries about veganism, including What the health and Game Changers, which is what inspired her to cut out all animal products from her life.

For Michelle, watching these documentaries opened a new door to an unknown world and allowed her to develop a new appreciation for the vegan community.  Michelle maintains an Instagram account @vegout_withme_ and her posts are not only creative and original but educate others about veganism, ethical decisions, and nutritious vegan meals. She is definitely someone that inspires others!

Any dish can be “veganized” and tasty

Michelle says that she feels amazing! She has lots of energy and keeps her body nourished with food that is grown from the Earth.  When Michelle is not working as a pediatric speech-language pathologist in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, she enjoys hiking, working out, running, yoga, cooking vegan food, painting and spending time with her dog.

A common misperception that Michelle believes should be cleared up about being vegan is the idea that “vegans are depriving themselves from good food.” She wants everyone, especially those considering switching to a vegan diet, to know just how delicious vegan food actually is. If you don’t believe her, try out some of her favorite types of vegan dishes: Thai and Ethiopian. She also says that eating a vegan diet isn’t as hard as it seems and that pretty much all non-vegan recipes can be veganized.

Family Support

Like many other life changes, having the support of your loved ones is key to positivity and success. Michelle shared with us that her boyfriend, sister, and stepmom have all embraced the vegan lifestyle.  She’s educating her dad, mom and brother about the benefits of making that switch.

Just like many of the others who have shared their vegan journey with us, Michelle says that going vegan is the best decision she’s ever made. Her only regret is not doing it sooner.

Vegan Life Nutrition is proud to be a part of so many vegan journeys.  We don’t sacrifice quality for innovation. Our products are always free of toxins, allergens, and unnecessary ingredients. How? We strictly examine raw ingredients and fully-vet each final product. Quality is our top consideration, and we adhere to the guidelines of some of the toughest regulatory authorities in the world.

At Vegan Life Nutrition, we believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is more than justJulie Harper obstacle course making sure your body gets the proper nutrients it needs through dieting and supplements. In fact, exercise is also a crucial part of a health and wellness journey.

We would like you to meet Julie Harper, the ultimate plant-based athlete from Delaware who believes in taking her goals seriously, whether they be fitness goals, nutritional goals, or personal goals.

Fitness Journey

Julie works as a personal trainer and gym manager and switched to being completely vegan two years ago to help aid with recovery and decrease inflammation. She  inspires her clients to reach their goals by helping them overcome hurdles. Julie especially understands how challenging losing weight and gaining muscle can be, as she herself wasn’t always in fit shape. Through changing her diet and establishing a consistent workout regime, she lost almost 100 pounds and started taking her health and wellness journey seriously.  Not only does Julie work in the fitness industry, she also spends her free time training for and tackling obstacle courses such as the Spartan Race, which is the most popular obstacle course in the world and Julie has competed in 50 times.

Vegan Lifestyle

Although Julie’s vegan journey began as a temporary solution to help her recover from workouts and a curiosity, she quickly grew to love the change in her lifestyle and has continued on her vegan journey for two years. She says that compared to the way her life was before, there is a 180° difference. “I sleep better, I feel better-I recover faster from workouts and I one hundred percent believe that it protects me from any injuries.” Overall, being vegan has allowed Julie to hit new fitness goals and has contributed to a more fulfilled health and wellness journey.

Julie’s approach to helping others become vegan is to encourage them to try it for themselves so see how their body reacts to the changes. She fully believes that veganism has changed her body and her mind in the most positive way and that once you implement a vegan diet into your life, there is no way you can go back from it. She says the reason for this is that “when people start to feel better, they want to continue to do better for themselves.” Julie and her significant other Jason became vegan together to see if it would improve their lives or make them feel better. She says that it definitely led to drastic positive changes in both of their lives and that at 41 years old, she feels better than she ever did at 20.

Eating the Rainbow

One common misconception that Julie would like to clear up about vegans is that their only source of protein is tofu, therefore; they must eat tofu every single day. She says that this is absolutely not true. In fact, because Jason is intolerant to soy, they were able to both broaden their horizons and try new foods that they would’ve never would have thought of. In order to ensure that they are getting a full balanced diet, they “truly eat the rainbow.” Beans are a necessity throughout her diet and her favorite plant-based meal is a 4 bean chili.

Vegan Life Nutrition is all about the vegan wellness journey and making sure the right vitamins and supplements are helping protect your body and giving you optimum health.

We’d like to introduce you to a woman who has been on quite the adventure to find her vegan journey.

Diane Yen grew up in Los Angeles and moved to San Diego shortly after college. She then moved to Japan for 5 years and to Chicago for 2 but eventually made her way back to San Diego. She just couldn’t stay away from the beach!

It wasn’t until after she married her high school sweetheart and moved to Japan that she transitioned to a plant-based lifestyle.

Living in Japan

Her vegan journey, like many, started as a vegetarian.  It was 1993 in Japan, and her husband was lactose intolerant and couldn’t eat dairy.  Between him giving up dairy and her giving up meat, they were almost an entirely plant-based home.

For Diane, the switch was easy.  She told Vegan Life Nutrition, “Japan has the best tofu.”

Smartphones didn’t exist in 1993, so learning new information about Japanese culture was not as simple as it is now.  But, she did her best to learn the necessary Kanji and Japanese phrases. She says that living in Japan also introduced her to many new vegetables and helped her really learn to love fresh vegetables.

No Need for Meat

Diane is incredibly passionate about health, the environment, and animal cruelty and credits these three things to be what inspires her daily. In her eyes, becoming vegan was the best choice for herself, for others and the environment. It’s a decision that she cherishes. She is a huge advocate for informing others that they don’t need meat in their diet to survive and can find substitutes that taste just as good without causing harm. “Plants have protein!”

She even had two healthy pregnancies while on a plant-based diet and exclusively nursed both of her children. Diane’s son and daughter both live out of state. She says she misses them a lot, but it is nice to know that they are still making ethical food choices while being on their own.  Although she dreams of a world that is all vegan, she says she is not the vegan police, and she herself is not perfect. She herself tries her very best to live a life that isn’t harmful to herself or to others.

One thing she finds to be difficult about being vegan is that there are still some restaurants that do not offer vegan options. However, she is thankful that many of them do. The vegan industry has also come a very long way, which excites her and gives her hope for the future.

We can imagine that there are many more vegan options to choose from than there were in 1993. “We only had soy milk, TVP, and cardboard veggie burgers! We typically gravitated to Asian food. Tofu for the win!”

Her favorite vegan meal is a rice bowl with teriyaki tofu and roasted veggies. We see that even after all these years, Japan still has a large influence on her lifestyle choices. Other vegan meals that she enjoys are a savory breakfast for dinner with a tofu scramble with avocado toast and lots of veggies. She is also a lover of matcha lattes with almond milk and can’t resist a good plant-based ice cream.

Advice for Vegans

Because Diane has been vegan for such a long time, she definitely has vast knowledge on the topic and a great deal of advice to give. She says one way that she helps share advice throughout the vegan community is by constantly recommending restaurants and new products to try and spark interest, as well as inform others of just how many options there are for vegans. She also helps by providing the vegan community information about greenhouse gases, zoonotic diseases, pandemics, heart disease, slaughterhouses, and many other important topics.  However, she does so cautiously so as not to turn people away from the idea of being vegan or to scare them. She thinks that the best way to turn people onto switching to a plant-based lifestyle is with kindness.

Diane wants everyone considering a vegan diet to keep in mind that plants have protein and that animals are not the only source of getting it. She says that there is a very common misconception that plants cannot provide the body with the right nutrients or enough protein, which she says is just not true. The best advice she has for anyone looking to switch to being vegan is, “It’s OK to start small. Allow yourself to progress. Try things out. See what’s important to you. If it’s important to you, you will be motivated to find a way to make it work.”

During pregnancy, there are many limits to which medications and supplements can be taken to ensure that no harm is being done to you or the baby. The one must-have that doctors recommend during pregnancy is a prenatal vitamin.

Taking a good prenatal vitamin is one of the simplest ways to help encourage a healthy pregnancy for both you and your baby. In addition to a healthy diet, they can help provide both you and your baby with the vital nutrients needed throughout each pregnancy stage.

Weeks Before Pregnancy

Believe it or not, many healthcare providers recommend starting prenatal vitamins months prior to the pregnancy.

Healthline says the ideal time to start a prenatal supplement is actually weeks or even  months prior to conception. If you are thinking about having a baby, this may be the time to consider taking a prenatal vitamin.

The Benefits of Prenatal Vitamins

Here are some of the great benefits of taking a prenatal supplement before pregnancy:

  1. May reduce the risk of preterm birth
  2. Folate supports the earliest and most critical fetal development stages
  3. DHA may affect your baby’s health immediately at time of conception
  4. DHA may promote an ideal balance of reproductive hormones and help improve egg quality
  5. May reduce the chance of birth irregularities
  6. Provide adequate sources of iron, vitamin D, and calcium
  7. Reduces the risk of preterm delivery, low birth weight, and infant mortality
  8. Provide necessary nutrients for a healthy pregnancy

Pregnancy is not easy and takes a lot out of you as the baby receives all of its nutrients directly from you, which can be very draining on your body. This is why you may experience various issues with physical pain as your body is depleted. Making sure that your body gets what it needs is easier to accomplish before the pregnancy begins and reduces your chances of nutrient deficiencies. If you have enough of the vitamins that you need to thrive, then you are able to adequately share those nutrients with your baby to help them grow.

Prenatal vitamins are important for your health and the health of your baby. Consult with your doctor about taking prenatal supplements if you are planning to conceive.

Vegan Life Nutrition is proud to be a part of so many women’s vegan journeys.  We are excited to bring vegan prenatal vitamins to women who are planning their pregnancies, pregnant, or have just delivered to meet their vegan nutritional desires.
